Functions of Estrogen Hormones:
1. This hormone is termed the feminizing hormone.
2. It is essential for the complete development of female reproductive organs.
3. Through this hormone, complete development occurs in females including mammary glands, fallopian tubes, uterus, vagina, labia, clitoris, etc.
4. Estrogen hormone facilitates the development of secondary sexual characteristics in females, such as a higher-pitched voice, fat deposition, the onset of menstruation, breast development, and the growth of hair in pubic areas.
5. Estrogen hormone awakens sexual desire in females.
6. Excessive secretion of estrogen can lead to irregularities in the menstrual cycle and poses a risk of cancer. The secretion of this hormone is regulated by the pituitary gland's FSH (Follicle-stimulating Hormone) and LH (Luteinizing Hormone).
