Question
Write the type of volcano.

Answer

  • There are three types of volcanoes, depending on the state of the volcano or the time between the two eruptions.
$(1)$ Active volcano: A volcano from which lava, steam, gases and other substances are continuously released is called an active volcano. Italy's Etna volcano has been active for $2500$ years. Cotopaxi in South America is the world's highest active volcano.
$(2)$ Dormant volcanoes: Volcanoes that have been silent for years and erupt again are called "dormant volcanoes". Examples are Vesuvius of Italy, Kakatoa of Indonesia, Aconcagua of Chile and Fujia of Japan.
$(3)$ Inactive volcanoes: Volcanoes become inactive and later become water-filled lakes. Volcanoes that show no signs of erupting in the future are called "dormant volcanoes". Kilimanjaro in Africa, Pope in Myanmar, Koh Sultan in Iran and Narcondum in the Bay of Bengal are dormant volcanoes.
