Wells and tube wells are popular means of irrigation in the northern plains of India.

Mr. Palani must cultivate Tea in Tamilnadu as the soil and climatic conditions in Tamil Nādu are suitable to grow Tea.
● The tea plant grows well in tropical and sub-tropical climates endowed with deep and fertile well-drained laterite soil, rich in humus and organic matter. Tea bushes require a warm and moist frost-free climate all through the year.
● Frequent showers evenly distributed over the year ensure continuous growth of tender leaves.

Rice is a staple food crop of India. It grows in the plains of north and north-east India, coastal areas and the deltaic regions.

Tea is an important beverage crop. This plant grows well in tropical or sub tropical climates, and deep and fertile well-drained soil which is rich in humus and organic matter.

Provision for crop insurance against drought, flood, cyclone, fire and disease, establishment of Grameen banks, cooperative societies and banks for providing loan facilities to the farmers at lower rates of interest were some important steps in this direction.

Karnataka is the largest producer of ragi followed by Tamil Nadu. Apart from these states, Himachal Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Sikkim, Jharkhand and Arunachal Pradesh are also important for the production of ragi.

Jute is a natural plant fibre obtained from jute plant. Since jute is uneven in nature and posses rough surface so it is not used for making cloths, but using to make ropes, curtains, and carpet etc.
