You have seen a tennis ball, a cricket ball, an orange and a pumpkin. Which one amongst these resembles the shape of the earth? Why have you chosen this particular item to describe the shape of the earth?
Answer
An orange resembles the shape of the earth because all others are almost sphere while pumpkin is long in shape. Earth is not a perfect sphere; it rotates on its axis. It is of geoids shape, flatter toward poles like an orange.

Answer
Yes we celebrate Van Mahotsava in our school:
  • We plant so many trees because they help in making us survive as they provide us oxygen by consuming the carbon dioxide exhaled by us. The other reason for planting trees is that they become home for the wild animals and further help in bringing rains from the atmosphere to the surface of the earth.
  • The trees maintain ecological balance as they provide us the above mentioned things and are responsible for the various scientific phenomena’s.

The sphere where elephants, deer, earthworms, trees and grasses live and grow is known as biosphere.
Important features of this sphere are:
  • The biosphere is the layer of the planet Earth where life exists.
  • Since life exists on the ground, in the air, and in the water, thus, biosphere overlaps all other three spheres.
  • Plants and animals are biotic elements of biosphere while soil, water, air are abiotic elements.

We observes the different features such as roads, railways, markets and other elements created by human beings. They are dissimilar. All these cultural features should be included in the study of geography because all these features are on the earth. The earth has always been seen as the home of human beings and we study all these features about the earth.
