Houses made of wood, stones and sloping roofs are seen in the mountainous regions of North India. In places where there is snowfall, the roofs are even more sloping so that the snow does not collect on them. but slides off easily. In Kashmir people live in houseboats and dongas. Tourists enjoy rides on Dal Lake in shikaras. Houseboats are usually large and remain stationary. Shikaras are small boats that move about. The nomadic tribes of the mountainous regions (the Changpas and the Bakarwals) use tents.

The higher and colder the place, the longer and the softer is the fur of the goats. The famous Pashmina shawls made from this hair is the livelihood of the Changpas. This is why the Changpas take their goats to higher and colder places for grazing.

Delhi and Mumbai are two large cities of India. Houses in both cities are made of cement, bricks, glass and steel. Hence, when Gaurav Jani saw the same type of houses in both cities, he thought that Delhi looked just like Mumbai.

Gauravbhai carried a small tent to stay in, a sleeping bag, a plastic sheet, warm clothes and food that would remain fresh for some days. He also took his camera and extra cans of petrol, etc. with him for the journey
