Hard rocks are commonly used in the construction of roads, houses, and buildings due to their durability and strength.

Metamorphic rocks can form from both igneous and sedimentary due to high heat and pressure.

Sediments are the small fragments or particles which are formed when rocks roll down, crack and hit each other.

Fossils are the remains of the dead plants and animals trapped in the layers of rocks.

The mantle extends to a depth of 2900 kilometers below the Earth's crust.

The two major constituents of the oceanic crust are Silica and Magnesium, making it SiMa.

The continental crust is primarily composed of Silica and Alumina, giving it the name SiAi.

When igneous and sedimentary rocks undergo great heat and pressure, they ar changed into metamorphic rocks. For example, clay changes into slate and limestone into marble.

Rocks are very useful to us. The hard rocks are used for making roads, houses and buildings.

Extrusive igneous rocks are formed when molten lave coming on the Earth is surface rapidly cools down and becomes solid, e.g. basalt.
Intrusive igneous rocks are formed when the molten magma cools down deep inside the Earth's crust and becomes solid, e.g. granite.
