Write an e-mail to your friend Ashish/Anusha describing to him/her your first experience of snowfall at a hill station. You are Mohit.
Answer
To:anusharajan12@ymail.com
From: mohitkumar@rediff.com
Date: 11th March, 2015
Subject: Snowfall fun!
 Dear Anusha,
Life is full of experiences. I have been to different hill stations, but have never had the luck of experiencing a snowfall. This winter we went to Gulmarg to watch the Winter Games there. The landscape took my breath away. The mountains all around were covered with sheets of snow. Although there was snow everywhere, there wasn’t any snowfall. Then, the most unexpected thing happened. From my hotel room window. I saw flakes of snow falling outside. We ran out to enjoy the snowfall.
I threw snowballs at the others and we also made a snowman. It seemed as if I had been transported to the world of fairies.
I shall look forward to hearing from you soon.

Question 35 Marks
You have been gifted a new cell phone which is powered by solar energy. Write an e-mail to your friend describing the phone and all its exciting features.
Answer
From: rajatgigmail.com
To:varun@gmail.com
Date: 7th March, 2014
Subject: Cell Phone Powered by Solar Energy
Hey Varun
I know we meet every day in gym but I couldn’t wait till then to tell you this. I bought a solar powered cell phone today. Air bell has launched this product very recently to promote usage of renewable sources of energy. Its widespread popularity lured me into buying this product. Its very easy to recharge this cell as our tropical country experiences bright sunlight almost 10 months in a year (although I was upset when it rained the whole day yesterday and the sun was unable to peep in through the clouds.). It is very handy. Efficient and appealing to the mass as it uses sun as a charger. So, poor people who don’t have access to electricity find it very economical. It also reduces risks of the danger which radiation poses to our sensory organs.
Let’s meet up soon today so that I tell you more about its features.
Take care
Rajat

Question 45 Marks
Letter to Editor for Insanitary Condition of your Area drawing the attention of the authorities towards it.
Answer
 35, MP Block,
Ashok Nagar, Patna
August 10, 2020
The Editor
The Times of India
New Delhi.
Sir
Subject: Concern over unsanitary conditions created by the weekly bazaar
Through the columns of your widely circulated newspaper, I would like to bring to the notice of the civic authorities the unsanitary conditions created by the weekly ‘Tuesday’ markets. The vendors throw garbage indiscriminately in our well-maintained area.
The weekly bazaar is held on the road dividing MP and NP blocks. It goes without saying that this bazaar is good for middle and lower-middle-class buyers but it is a nuisance for the area residents. Right from the evening till midnight we have to undergo noise, security risk and traffic jams. But Wednesday is hellish for us. The road remains littered with vegetable and fruit discards, leaf plates with stinking leftover food. Polythene and paper wrappers remain floating on the road. Cattle roam around the road to eat that litter. They add to the dirt and filth. It takes the road a few days to dry up but Tuesday again arrives.
It is hoped that the concerned authorities would take strict steps. Cleaning the area must be made mandatory for the vendors and the stall owners. Dustbins in different places must be placed. The vendors should be fined heavily if they fail to keep the road clean.
Yours sincerely,
Rashmi

Question 55 Marks
Your city was inundated by the recent rains causing extensive water logging, traffic snarls and ugly jams. The life of the common man was completely disrupted. You have decided to write an e-mail to the editor of a local daily describing the condition of the city. Make suggestions for improvement. As Renu/Rohit, write this email in 120-150 words.
Answer
From: renu@ kmail.com
To: editor@toi.com
Date: 7th March, 2014
Subject: Water logging in the city due to rains
Sir,
I am a regular reader of your national daily and wish to utilize its columns to highlight the problem of water logging and traffic jams in the city caused due to the recent rains.
The life of the common man was completely disrupted as local transport services were disrupted. Many vehicles were submerged as the drainage system in the city is poor. Plastic and other waste clog the drains, the slope of the roads is incorrect and there are not enough flyovers to bypass the submerged roads. The authorities need to improve the drainage system, resurface the roads and make more flyovers to improve the conditions. An alternate transport system, like Delhi’s underground Metro railway, needs to be started.
I hope that the concerned authorities will take appropriate action promptly.
Yours sincerely,
Renu

Sir,
Subject: Cleanliness campaign in Yamuna Vihar
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I want to give an account of the cleanliness campaign organized in our colony during this weekend. We had been campaigning for this for the last month. We had been explaining to the residents the need to keeping their biodegradable wastes and non-biodegradable wastes in separate containers.
This Saturday we started our cleanliness campaign from A-block. With brooms, sacks, poly packs, and containers we started cleaning the roads and collecting the rubbish in sacks and containers. All the residents were motivated by our initiative and joined us. During the two days, we were able to clean most of the Yamuna Vihar.
I request you to give it sufficient publicity so that young men in other areas are also motivated to launch such drives.
Yours truly
Dinesh
