Entrance Examinations are everywhere on the block. With more students and less seats entrance examinations have become a must. Also it is necessary to assess the capability and aptitude of the students before they are admitted to check whether they will be able to do the course and are fit enough to occupy the seat. However, the examinations need to be designed in such a way that students don't find themselves burdened and depressed.
As these examinations are here to stay students need to explore knowledge beyond textbooks and prepare for these exams by getting thorough practice in the type of questions asked. As they are interested in screening the students so that only those who are serious about their studies are chosen.
Also a good point with these exams are that those students who are not able to meet with the cut-off criteria of marks can do well in the entrance exams to take up the career stream they are interested in. Another reason for such examinations is that the number of students for admission is too high so this is the only way to reduce the number who can be admitted. However, these exams leave a feeling of dejection especially for students from rural background who really do not have the means for their preparation.

Sibling rivalry means a kind of a competition existing among children of the same family. If it leads to their growth and all-round development we can call it a healthy rivalry. However, sometimes it leads to breakups in families and creates distance between the members.
Sibling rivalry usually arises due to the overprotective attitude of the parents towards a child, a gender bias or giving a child more importance than the others. Sometimes it leads to unhealthy competition among the children and becomes the onset of an unhealthy rivalry. Usually, the firstborn finds it difficult to accept that somebody else will share the affection of the family. Parents have to play an important role in bringing the siblings together and learning the art of living. They too must stop paying more attention to a particular child and treat all of them equally. Fostering family bonds and increasing family activities where everyone participates is the best way to nullify any sibling rivalry that crops up.
The mass media should have constructive talks, dramas and soaps on TV to make people aware about the problem and delicately treat it with caution. If professional help is required it should be used subtly to nip the problem in a bud before it takes a serious turn.
Speech
Respected Principal Sir, teachers and my dear friends. Good morning I am Amit Tandon from XI C and I am going to speak on the topic ‘Child Labour.’
Children are the future of the country. Every country should see that each child develops and helps the country to progress. However, today we find many children not going to school but working to add to the family income. People make small children work because they don’t have to pay them more money. The children are even forced by their parents to work. Child labour is very shameful.
So many children work in cracker factories and die early because the harmful material used in crackers get into their bodies. Many children are brought forcibly from far off villages to work in the cities. They are made to stay in small rooms and are not given proper food and facilities.
It is not legal to make small children work because they need to go to school and study. In India it is compulsory for a child of 6 - 14 years to go to school. The children who spend their life working have never enjoyed their childhood.
They have not received the love and care of parents. Such children will become misfits and even take to crime. Child labour should be stopped completely and the government should take strict action and punish those who make small children labour. I sincerely hope this problem is solved to let all children enjoy their childhood. Thank you.
