"पादैः पिबति इति पादपः" Means a tree drinks water with its legs (roots). Legs of a tree means its roots. Trees absorb water with the help of their roots. A tree has a system to absorb water with the help of its roots and to carry it to its different parts. This proves that a tree has life.

Inspite of possessing wealth, plenty of foodgrains, graments, ornaments and other things that provide material happiness, a family is considered worthless if it does not have a son. Similarly, inspite of possessing everything, a house is considered worthless if there is no tree in its courtyard. Both a tree and a son always do welfare.
