(1) ततः प्रावर्तत प्रावृट्‌ सर्वसत्त्वसुखप्रदा।
विद्योतमानपरिधिर्विस्फूर्जितनभस्तला ॥

(2) अष्टौ मासान्‌ निपीतं यद्‌ भूम्या जलमयं वसु ।
स्वगोभिर्मोक्तुमारेभे भास्करः काल आगते ॥
Answer
(1) Then the rainy season with shining aureole, thunderous sky and giving happiness to all creatures arrived/began.
(2) When the time arrived the sun started releasing water which it has drunk from the earth for eight months.

Question 24 Marks
(1) निशामुखेषु खद्योतास्तमसा भान्ति न ग्रहाः ।
यथा पापेन पाखण्डा न हि वेदाः कलौ युगे ॥

(2) क्षेत्राणि सस्यसम्पद्धिः कर्षकाणां मुदं ददुः ।
धनिनामुपतापं च दैवाधीनमजानताम्‌ ॥
Answer
(1) At the begining of the night, the fireflies look beautiful due to darkness. (They glow with their wings), and not the planets. In the Kali Yuga, the effects of the Vedas can not be experienced due to sins commited by the deceitful people. (The effect of the Vedas gets destroyed. Here, the fireflies glowing at the begining of the night are compared with the deceitul people and the planet which we can not see are compared with the Vedas.)
(2) The field with the wealth in the form of foodgrains started giving joy to farmers. But the wealthy and ignorant people who are dependent upon luck feel distress.

(1) जलस्थलौकसः सर्वे नववारिनिषेवया ।
अबिभ्रद्‌ रुचिरं रूपं यथा हरिनिषेवया ॥

(2) मार्गा बभूवुः सन्दिग्धास्तृणेश्छन्ना ह्यसंस्कृताः ।
नाभ्यस्यमानाः श्रुतयो द्विजैः कालहता इव ॥
Answer
(1) Like worshipping of god, all the creatures living in water and on land took beautiful form (started looking beautiful) after consuming the new (rain) water.
(2) When the path covered with grass are not cleared, they are forgotten. Similarly due to lack of practise, the Vedas are being forgotten by Brahmins. (Here, the paths covered with grass compared with fire Vedas forgotten due to lack of practice.)

(1) मार्गा बभूवुः सन्दिग्धास्तृणैश्छन्ना ह्यसंस्कृताः ।
नाभ्यस्यमानाः श्रुतयो द्विजैः कालहता इव ॥

(2) मेघागमोत्सवा हष्टाः प्रत्यनन्दन्‌ शिखण्डिनः ।
गृहेषु तप्ता निर्विण्णा यथा भगवज्जनागमे ॥
Answer
(1) When the path covered with grass are not cleared, they are forgotten. Similarly due to lack of practise, the Vedas are being forgotten by Brahmins. (Here, the paths covered with grass compared with fire Vedas forgotten due to lack of practice.)
(2) When the devotees of god arrive, the distreessed and tired family men feel happy. Similarly the peacocks who consider the arrival of clouds as festival become happy. (Here, the peacocks being happy by the arrival of clouds are compared with the distressed and tired householders.)
