Question 13 Marks
How do you prepare $p-$bromoaniline and $o-$bromoaniline from aniline? Explain.
Answer
View full question & answer→Due to the high reactivity of aniline towards electrophilic substitution reaction, substitution occurs at both the $o-$ and $p-$ positions. Therefore, to make a single substituted derivative of aniline, it is first protected by acetylation to reduce the activation effect of the $-NH_2$ group.
