Describe the following  experiment with Diagram: To understand the structure and function of a hinge joint by making a model.
Answer
 Apparatus - Materials : Thro cardboards, pencil. Apparatus - Materials : Thro cardboards, pencil. Procedure:
$(1)$ Make a cylinder with cardboard.
(See fig.)
$(2)$ Attach a small pencil to the cylinder by piercing the cylinder at the center.
$(3)$ Make a hollow half cylinder from cardboard such that the rolled up cylinder can fit inside it easily.
$(4)$ The hollow half cylinder with the rolled-up cylinder sitting inside it, allows movement like a hinge.
$(5)$ Try to move rolled up cylinder. Observe how does it move. The cylinder can be moved in one direction only. It shows the movement of hinge joint. e.g. joints of elbow, knee, toes, jaw, etc.

Describe the following  experiment with Diagram: To understand the structure and function of ball and socket joint by making a model.
Answer
 Apparatus - Materials: Strip of paper, plastic ball. Procedure:
$(1)$ Take a strip of paper arid roll it into a cylinder.
$(2)$ Make a small hole in an old rubber or plastic ball. Try to the paper cylinder into the hole as shown in the figure.
$(3)$ Put the ball in a small bowl. Is the ball rotating freely inside the bowl? Is the paper cylinder also rotating?
Explanation : Now, imagine that the paper cylinder is your arm and the ball is its end. The bowl is like the part of the shoulder to which your arm is joined. The rounded end of one bone fits into the cavity (hollow space) of the other bone [Fig. $(b)$]. Such a joint allows movements in all directions.
