The process of making yarn from fibre Is called spinning. In this process, fibres from a mass of cotton are drawn out and twisted. This brings the fibres together to form a yarn. Simple devices used for spinning are hand spindle (takit) and charkha.

Coconut fibre is used for making bags, mat, doormat and ropes.
