Which colours are used in maps to show which physical (natural) and cultural details?
Answer
Brown colour is used to show landforms, blue for water bodies, green for vegetation, black for railway routes, red for land routes, and yellow for agricultural details.
Maps showing the boundaries of villages, cities, talukas, districts, states, countries, continents, world, etc. are known as ‘Political maps’. Two illustrations of political maps:

What is meant by physical maps? What is shown in them?
Answer
Maps depicting the information of natural elements are called ‘Physical maps’. Physical features such as mountains, plateaus, plains, rivers, oceans, etc. are shown in these maps.
A collection of maps showing various details of the earth or a large part of it is called an ‘Atlas’.
It contains a detailed information about political, administrative, physical (natural) and cultural elements.
