Mumbai is in Maharashtra. Maharashtra produces huge quantity of cotton. So Mumbai used the to get raw materials easily for the cotton textile industry. All facilities like skilled labourers, craftsmen, electricity, banks, a port for import-export, humid climate, good facilities of transportation, etc. were available here. Mumbai being a port, it was a good facility to import quality of machinery from abroad for the cotton textile industry. Due to all these reasons, the cotton textile industry developed rapidly in Mumbai.

The difference between Agro-based Industry and mineral - based industry is as follows:

The ownership and the administration of the public sector industry are in the hands of the Government; e.g. Hindustan Aero nautical Limited, Steel Authority of India Ltd.. Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd., etc. are public sector industries.	The ownership of the joint sector industry is in the hands of either the Government and the Individual or the Government and a group of individuals. eg. Maruti Suzuki Ltd. and Oil India Ltd./ are industries of joint sector.

Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai and are pivotal hubs of Information Technology industry in India. Gurgaon, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram, Cochin and Chandigarh. etc. are other important centres in the country.

Silicon Valley is a part of the Santa Claus Valley of Central America, which is located near the Rocky Mountains in North America. The climate here is temperate. Occasionally, the temperature here falls below 0°C also.

Bengaluru city is located in the Deccan plateau of India, hence it is also named as 'Silicon Plateau'.

The Silicon Valley of Central California and Bengaluru city of India are the pivotal places of Information Technology industry.

Three factors viz. facilities for research, availability of expenses (money) and structure of the research determine the geographical location of Information Technology industry.

The Information Technology industry has become a global industry currently because there is a significant change in the technology. politics. social and economic fields at world level. So the Information Technology industry has become a global industry currently.

The Information Technology industry brings the storage (collection). processing and distribution of information into practice.

Recently cotton textile industry of Osaka has been replaced by iron and steel industry machinery industry. shipbuilding industry. automobile industry, electrical appliances Industry cement industry, etc.

Japan does not produce cotton. So the cotton textile industry of Osaka is entirely dependent on imported raw materials.

The cotton textile industry has developed in Osaka because of a number of geographical reasons.

Osaka is also known as the 'Manchester of Japan' because the cotton textile industry has developed on a large scale in Osaka like throbbing cotton textile industry of the Manchester city of Great Britain.

The main problems of the cotton textile industry of Ahmedabad was the emerging of new centres of cotton textile in other countries of the world and the lack (non-upgradation) of modernization of the machinery in the mills of Ahmedabad.

Ahmedabad got recognition as the 'Manchester of India', because the cotton textile industry in Ahmedabad had developed on very large scale like the throbbing cotton textile industry of Manchester city of Great Britain.

The major centres of cotton textile industry in India are Coimbatore. Kanpur, Chennai,Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Ludhiana, Puducherry Panipat, etc.

The hot and humid climate, facility of a port for import of machines, large cotton production. skilled labourers, facilities of electricity and bank, transportation facilities, etc. were easily available in Mumbai. so the cotton textile industry expanded rapidly in Mumbai.

The production of hand woven cotton textile was expensive and time consuming in India. So the traditional cotton textile industry of India could not compete with the mechanized cotton textile industry of the west.

Before the British rule the muslin of Dhaka Chintz (splint) of Machilipatnam. colton cloth of Calicut and the golden embroidered cotton cloth of Burhanpur. Sural and Vadodara were world famous in India.
