The basic aim of the Consumer Protection Act 2019 is to save the rights of the consumers by establishing authorities for timely and effective administration and settlement of consumers' disputes.

They help the consumers in assessing the quality assurance of the product.

24th December is observed as National Consumers Day in India because on this day in 1986 COPRA was enacted by the Indian Parliament.

Adulteration means mixing inferior quality goods with superior products.

Two Features of Consumer Protection Act :
(i) Under the Consumer Protection Act, Consumers are provided six rights.
(ii) This act is applicable to all the sectors - Public, private and cooperatives.

RTI means Right to Information, under it any citizen of India may request information from a public authority.

COPRA denotes Consumer Protection Act.
COPRA gives various rights to the consumers e.g. right to be protected and marketing of goods and services, right to be informed about the product.

Legal measures for the empowerment of consumers :
(i) Consumer Protection Act 1986
(ii) Right to Information Act 2005

Consumer exploitation means taking undue advantage of consumers by the sellers for their own benefit.

Consumer's awareness means consciousness of the consumer towards his/her rights and duties.

Consumer education means making consumers aware of their rights and duties.
