Question 12 Marks
Sir Jamshedji Tata chose to set up his iron and steel plant in Jamshedpur for several reasons. Firstly, the area had abundant natural resources such as iron ore, coal, and water, which were essential for the production of steel. Additionally, the location was strategic for transportation, being close to the coal and iron fields and having access to the Grand Trunk Road and the Bengal-Nagpur railway. Furthermore, the area had a relatively low population density, making it suitable for establishing a large industrial complex without displacing a large number of people.
