MATHS Fill in the blanks.

There are infinite pairs of integers satisfying a ÷ b = -1.

When -25 is divided by (-5) the quotient is 5.

When we divide a negative integer by a positive integer, we divide them as whole numbers and put a negative sign before the quotient.

(-a) + b = b + additive inverse of a.

13 × (-6) = -(13 × 6) = -78

{(-8) × (-13)} × 27 = (-8) × {(-13) × 27} (Associative law of mutliplication)

0 ÷ (-25) = 0 (∵ 0 divided by every integer excepted is zero)

(-10) × {(-15) + 33} = ……… × (-15) + (-10) × 33
= (-10) × {(-15) + 33}
= (-10) × (-15) + (-10) × 33 (Distributive law of multiplication)

…….. ÷ (-6) = -12
-6 × (-12) = 72
72 ÷ (-6) = -12

The integer whose product with (-1) is 22 is -22. [∵ (-1) × (-22) = 22]

The division of any integer by zero is meaningless.

The product of two negative integers and the product of two positive integers is a positive integer.

[(-10) + 3] + (-12) = (-10) + (3 + ……..)
[(-10 + 3] + (-12) = (-10) + [3 + (-12)] (Associative law of addition)
