Calorie and joule are different units of energy. A calorie is defined as the amount of heat energy required to raise the temperature of 1 g of water by 1 °C. On the other hand, one joule is defined as the amount of work done when a force of 1 N causes a displacement of 1 m in a body in the direction of the force. The relationship between calorie and joule is, 1 Calorie = 4.186 joules.
