One of your friends had visited the Bora cave where she had observed some beautiful features made of limestone inside the cave.
Can you explain the formation process of such limestone topography? Which type weathering is observed here?
Answer
Carbonation is responsible for the formation of lime-stone topography.
When the rainwater mixes with carbon dioxides in the atmosphere it forms carbonic acid, which after reacting with limestone $\left( CaCO _3\right)$ forms Calcium bi-carbonate which is highly soluble and easily washed away in solution as it flows through rocks or seeps below the surface.
