A watch worth Rs. $5400$ is offered for sale at Rs. $4,500$. What per cent discount is offered during the sale?
Answer
Marked price of a watch = Rs. $5400$
Selling price = Rs. $4500$
Discount = Marked price – Selling price = Rs. $5400$ – Rs. $4500$
= Rs. $900$ $\text{Discount}\%=\frac{\text{Discount}}{\text{Marked price}}\times100$
$=\frac{900}{5400}\times100$
$=\frac{900}{54}=\frac{450}{27}=\frac{150}{9}=\frac{50}{3}\%$

Store $B$ sells video game on sale offer = Rs. $600$
Store $A$ sells video game at discount $= 25\%$
So, the price of video game at store $B$$=750-\frac{25}{100}\times750=750-187.5=\text{Rs.} \ 562.5$
Hence, at sore $A$ the video game is less expensive.

Selling price of a chair $= Rs.\ 736$
At selling a shopkeeper suffers $8\%$ loss.
According to the question,$\text{x}-\text{x}\times\frac{8}{100}=736$
$\frac{92\text{x}}{100}=736$
$\text{x}=\frac{73600}{92}=\text{Rs.}800$
To gain $8\%$ profit the price should be$=800+\frac{8}{100}\times800$
$=800+64=\text{Rs.} \ 864$

Percentage of women in factory $= 35\%$
Percentage of men in factory $= 100 - 35 = 65\%$
Let the number of persons in the factory be $x$.
According to the question,$\text{x}\times\frac{65}{100}-\text{x}\times\frac{35}{100}=252$
$\frac{65\text{x-}\text{35x}}{100}=252$
$\frac{30\text{x}}{100}=252$
$\text{x}=\frac{2520}{3}=840$
Hence, total number of workers in the factory is $840$.
