MCQ 2021 Mark
The base of an isosceles right triangle is $30\ cm.$ Its area is:
  • A
    $225\text{cm}^2$
  • B
    $225\sqrt{3}\text{cm}^2$
  • C
    $225\sqrt{2}\text{cm}^2$
  • $450\text{cm}^2$
Answer
Correct option: D.
$450\text{cm}^2$
Let $ABC$ be the right triangle in which $\angle\text{B}=90^\circ$
Now, base $= BC;$ Perpendicular $= AB;$ Hypotenuse $= AC$
Now, $BC = 30\ cm ($given$)$
Now, $\triangle \text{ABC}$ is an isosceles right angled $\triangle$ and we know that hypotenuse is the longest side of the right $\triangle m. $
So, $AB = BC = 30\ cm$
Area of $\triangle\text{ABC}=\frac12\times\text{base}\times\text{height}$
$=\frac12\times\text{BC}\times\text{AB}$
$=\frac12\times30\times30$
$=450\text{cm}^2$
