Question 12 Marks
Find the area of the triangle whose base measures $24\ cm$ and the corresponding height measures $14.5\ cm.$
Answer
Here, $b = 24cm$ and $h = 14.5\ cm$ Area of triangle
$=\Big(\frac{1}{2}\times\text{base}\times\text{height}\Big)\text{sq}\ \text{units}$
$=\Big(\frac{1}{2}\times24\times14.5\Big)\text{cm}^2$
$=174\text{cm}^2$

Question 22 Marks
A parallelogram and a square have the same area. If the sides of the square measure $40\ m$ and altitude of the parallelogram measures $25\ m$, find the length of the corresponding base of the parallelogram.
Answer
Area of parallelogram = Area of rhombus
$\Rightarrow\text{Base}\times\text{Altitude}=(\text{Side})^2$
$\Rightarrow\text{Base}\times25=(40)^2$
$\Rightarrow\text{Base}=\frac{40\times40}{25}=64\text{m}$
