(a) Plant cells are characterized by the presence of a rigid cell wall on the basis of which they can be differentiated from animal cells. Hence, in two kingdom classification, bacteria were classified among plants. However, according to the five-kingdom classification, bacteria are grouped under kingdom Monera.
