An object is moving with uniform velocity v along a straight line. What will be the shape of displacement-time graph if:
  1. x0 = -ve, v = +ve,
  2. x0 = +ve, v = -ve
Here, x0 represents the position of the particle at time t = 0.

Displacement-time graphs are shown in Fig.
In Fig. (a) x0 is -ve but velocity v is +ve i.e., slope of curve is +ve.
In Fig. (b), x0 is +ve but slope of line and hence velocity is negative.
