Answer
In India, industrialization, urbanization, education, law, communication media and social media have had a positive, reforming impact on citizens.
The direct effect of this ideological change is seen in the structure and functions of the family.
$(1)$ The size of the family gets smaller:
For a variety of reasons, small-sized families are increasingly being replaced by traditional joint families.
Among these reasons are the government's family welfare schemes, equality between sons and daughters, the best upbringing of a single child.
$(2)$ The area of responsibility decreases:
Relationships with distant blood relatives are becoming less important nowadays.
Sometimes it becomes difficult to discharge one's responsibilities and duties even towards the members of a joint family.
$(3)$ Changes in the relationship between husband and wife:
The relationship between husband and wife in the Indian family was formed on the basis of power and subordination.
It was the wife's duty to obey her husband.
These relationships have changed significantly in recent times.
The relationship of subordination and power is the relationship of ally.
Women carry the financial responsibility along with the responsibility of a housewife.
Today the dependence of women / husbands on men has decreased.
In short, the foundation of equality between husband and wife is laid.
$(4)$ Relationships between parents and children:
These relationships were also built on the values of power and subordination.
In the family, the father's decision was final.
Thus the power of the children has become equal to that of the father.
He challenges the authority of the elders in matters of financial well-being, choice of spouse, choice of business wisely, acquisition of share in property.
Today the children express an opinion against the father's decision.
Today children do not expect to be subject to their father.
Parents are also becoming more sympathetic towards their children.
But, elderly parents experience the problem of isolation and loneliness from their children.
