Classify industries on the basis of source of raw material. How are they different from each other?

On the basis of sources of raw material industries are classified as:

  1. Agro based industries.
  2. Mineral based industries.
These industries are different from each other on following basis -

  1. Agro based industries –
  1. Draws their raw materials from agricultural products.
  2. Eg: - Textiles – Cotton, Jute, Silk and Woolen.

Rubber, Sugar, Coffee, Tea and Edible Oil, etc.

  1. Mineral based industries –
  1. Draws their raw materials from Minerals.
  2. Eg: - Iron and Steel, Cement,  Machine tools, Petrochemicals, etc.
