Base: A substance that contains $OH$ group and produces hydroxide ions $\left( OH ^{-}\right)$in aqueous solution is called a base. $NaOH _{( aq )} \longrightarrow Na _{( aq )}^{+}+ OH _{( aq )}^{-}$
