Taj Mahal is one of the Seven wonders of the World.
  • It has made the name of Anjumandbanu, popularly known as Mumtaz Mahal, the queen of Shahjahan,
  • immortal all over the world.
  • Shahjahan built this beautiful and grand Taj at Agra, in her memory after she died in $1631.$
  • Four-and-a-half crore rupees were spent, in those days, in constructing the Taj Mahal.
  • Its construction started in $1631$ and was completed in $1653.$
  • The original design was jointly made by an Iranian expert, Isa and other local and foreign artists.
  • It was built on a raised platform of marble, on the banks of Yamuna.
  • It has an attractive entrance and there is a dome in the centre and four minarets on its sides.
  • It is decorated with minute carvings and precious stones.
  • Beautiful gardens surround it and the fountains complete its glory and beauty.
  • The grave (tomb) of Mumtaz lies in the centre of Taj.
  • It is surrounded by beautiful artistic octagonal fence, carved out of stone.
  • A beautiful saying is inscribed on one of its arches ‘People with a pure heart are welcome in the garden of Paradise’.
  • The reflection of Taj Mahal in the waters of the Yamuna, on a full-moon night is a beautiful sight.
