Co-Operate The Latin word Co $($co / together$)\ +$ Operate $($to work together$)$ means to work together is called ‘co-operation’.
Through interaction, human beings fulfill their various needs.
These needs can never be satisfied alone.
It requires the help of others and thus cooperation is born.
Cooperation is a universal process of human life.
Cooperation is a process of working together to achieve a common goal.
E.g. In any game, every player of the team strives to achieve a goal $($win$)$ through cooperation.
Only through cooperation can the maximum use of limited resources be made possible.
According to Fairchild, "cooperation is the process by which an individual or group unites and works towards the same goal through their own efforts."
According to Ogurban and Nymphock, "behavior is when human beings work together to achieve the same goals."
The element of cooperation is found in human beings for two reasons:
$(1)$ Humans satisfy their own mental needs of cooperation.
$(2)$ Human beings satisfy their social needs only with the help of cooperation.
Types of cooperation:
Cooperation is found in various forms in human life.
The amount of cooperation also varies from time to time.
Sometimes it is selfish, sometimes it is voluntary cooperation.
But, the main types are as follows.
$(A)$ Direct cooperation:
Direct cooperation is when another person or group directly helps in achieving the goal of one person or group.
This type of cooperation involves close relationships and physical intimacy between individuals.
For example, children play a joint game, there is direct cooperation between the devotees pulling the chariot in the rathyatra.
Direct cooperation arises from mutual expectations, social duties and values of society.
Direct cooperation provides social and psychological satisfaction to human beings.
$(B)$ Indirect cooperation:
Indirect cooperation is when two or more parties indirectly help each other for a single goal.
In indirect cooperation, various activities are divided and specialized.
Its different individuals do different activities.
Indirect cooperation is a feature of the industrial community.
E.g. the teacher teaches in the school, the servant cleans, the principal manages and all these indirectly help the student to study.
Thus only through cooperation can man achieve his needs.
Cooperation is very important for human society.
