Question
Eldest Brahma (ज्येष्टक ब्रहमः)

Answer

Eldest Brahma means the supreme being. The one who has created this universe. It is the original substance from which all the things in the world have been created. It is the element in which ultimately all the matters will be dissolved. Adi Shankaracharya considers "Brahm" as the ultimate truth and the soul as the supreme being. Therefore it is said, "'ब्रह्म सत्यं जगन्मिथ्या जीवो ब्रहौव नापरः' Whatever exists in the universe consists of "Brahm". A devotee becomes free from all the bondages and gets salvation when he encounters Brahm. It is the element from which the universe has been created. Therefore it is said that, "अयमात्मा ब्रह्म अहं ब्रह्मास्मि अपो वै ब्रह्म".
