An example is being given to clarify bioethics or biopiracy. A plant, Pentadiplandra brazzeana, is found in Western Africa. This plant produces a protein called brazzein which is 2000 times sweeter than sugar. People of Africa know about its use. This has a bad effect on sugar exporting countries. Therefore, after acquiring the knowledge of traditional use, they enter the commercial sector and kidnap biological resources with a view to earn profit, this is called bio-ethics or biopiracy.
