Norms also help to reduce prejudice by maintaining social peace and law and order. Due to prejudice, social conflicts and tension rise. In such situation, norms can prove to be useful in maintaining social peace, safety and law and order. For example to increase the female ratio, sex test and female foeticide are treated as crime. The "equal inheritance act" is also useful to protect the rights of women and to make them independent. Many other laws have been implemented to ensure the safety of women so that they can work freely with males without any fear. This chapter describes the effects of attitude and prejudice on human behaviour. Negative attitudes are harmful for society so it is imperative to find some ways to reduce them. We should stay away from such attitudes and try to develope positive attitude for our betterment.
