We find inconsistent gender patterns in the studies of positive moods such as happiness, joy and love. According to researches, women experience more happiness and more intense positive emotions than men. So it can be concluded that females express more positive emotions than men. More women express joy, happiness and love to others than men. Women's non-verbal behaviour also indicates the greater expressiveness of women, for example – women smile more frequently than men. Studies of smiling in magazines and newspapers photos, observations of smiling among people in shopping malls, parks and on city streets indicates that women smile more than men. (Halberstadt and Saitta) Moreover, women also seem more skillful than men at reading non-verbal cues and correctly assessing the emotional states of others.
