Question
Explain the cognitive dissonance component in attitude change process.

Answer

Cognitive dissonance as a concept in attitude change was proposed by Leon Festinger. It lays stress on the component. The concept says that the cognitive components of attitude must be consonant i.e., they should be logically related to each other. If a person finds that two aspects in an attitude are dissonant then one of them is changed to establish consonance.
