Explain the concept of Democratic leadership and state its features.

Democratic Leadership (Participative): It is also known as participative leadership. It is the most effective leadership style. Democratic leaders offer guidance to group members, but they also participate in the group and allow input from other group members. Participative leaders encourage group members to participate, but retain the final say over the decision-making process. Group members feel engaged in the process and are more motivated and creative.
Features of Democratic Leadership are:
  1. Encourages staff to be a part of the decision making.
  2. Keeps staff informed about everything that affects their work, shares decision making and problem solving responsibilities.
  3. The democratic leader:
  1. Develops plans to help staff evaluate their own performance.
  2. Allows staff to establish goals.
  3. Encourages staff to grow on the job and be promoted.

Two years ago Nishant, completed his degree in Textile Engineering. He worked for sometime in a company manufacturing readymade garments.
