Question
Explain the difference between a political party and a pressure group.
✓
Answer
In a democratic system of governance, the difference between the two parties is due to the fact that the political parties are the dominant group.
(1) In terms of meaning: Political parties are an organization of individuals formed on the basis of certain principles.
Which seeks to gain control over the government machinery through legal means.
For example, the BJP, while the Dabjutho is usually an organization not affiliated with a political party.
Which are designed to achieve certain principles or to protect and promote their own interests.
E.g. Chamber of Commerce
(2) In terms of goal: The goal is for political parties to gain power.
E.g. AAP. The main goal of the pressure groups is not to gain power but to protect their own interests and for that they put pressure on the political system.
(3) In terms of interests: Political parties try to cover various interests of the society.
So as to increase its size and performance.
E.g. Reserve movement.
Pressure is associated with the interests of a particular class or department.
Its foundation and mechanism are limited.
E.g. The Narmada Bachao Andolan covers more political parties than the Pressure group.
Thus there is a difference between political parties and oppressors.
There are significant differences between them in terms of area as well as participation in the electoral process.
