1. Diborane can also be obtained in small quantities by the reaction of iodine with sodium borohydride in diglyme.$2 NaBH _4+ I _2 \rightarrow B _2 H _6+2 Nal + H _2$ 2. On heating magnesium boride with $HCl$ a mixture of volatile boranes are obtained.- $2 Mg _3 B _2+12 HCl \rightarrow 6 MgCl _2+ B _4 H _{10}+ H _2$- $B _4 H _{10}+ H _2 \rightarrow 2 B _2 Hg$ (Diborane)
