✓
Answer
$i.$ Syngas:
Syngas is the mixture of $CO$ and $H_2.$ It is also called ‘water$-$gas’.
It is used for the synthesis of $CH_3OH$ and many hydrocarbons, hence, the name syngas or ‘synthesis gas’.
Production of syngas is also the first stage of gasification of coal.
$ii.$ Water$-$gas shift reaction:
The carbon monoxide in the water$-$gas is transformed into carbon dioxide by reacting with steam in presence of iron chromate as catalyst.
This reaction is called water$-$gas shift reaction.
