There are three colours of traffic signals at junction: red, green and yellow.
→ When our vehicle is approaching a traffic control signal, the driver should slow down his vehicle and follow the traffic signals as follow:
Red Traffic Signal:
(1) Stop the vehicle before the stop line when there is a red light in front of your vehicle on a crossroad.
(2) Stop your vehicle before a pedestrian crossing when the stop line is not marked or visible.
(3) When there is no pedestrian crossing. stop before the primary traffic signal.
(4) A driver wishing to turn left when the red light is on, can turn left after giving priority to vehicles coming from his right, pedestrians crossing the road and cyclists.
(5) When there is a continuous flashing red light at crossroads, the motorist should proceed as mentioned below:
-If there is no stop line or any primary traffic signal, one should stop the vehicle before the pedestrian crossing.
-Drive the vehicle ahead only when deemed safe after giving priority to pedestrians and traffic on the main road.
Green Traffic Signal:
(1) Drive the vehicle forward only when there is a green light in front of your vehicle at a pedestrian crossing or four lanes are clear.
(2) When the traffic regulation signal displays the direction indicator green arrow, one can move in the direction of the green arrow.
(3) Give way to pedestrians at pedestrian crossing and vehicles already at crossroads at the time of green light at the traffic signal.
(4) When a continuous flashing green arrow displays at a crossroad, the driver should turn in the direction of the green arrow when deemed
safe after giving the right of way to pedestrians. cyclists and intermingling traffic on the road.
Yellow (Amber) Traffic Signal:
(1) Stop before the stop line when there is a yellow light in front of your vehicle at crossroads or when there is none before a pedestrian crossing or primary traffic signal.
(2) But if your vehicle has crossed the stop line or is so close to the stop line that a sudden stop is likely to cause a collision with the vehicle coming from behind, it is safe to cross the signal without stopping.
(3) Drive cautiously after giving way to pedestrians and vehicles already present at the crossroads when the yellow light is flashing continuously at the crossroads.
