Write short note on: Formation of the Lok Sabha.

The Lok Sabha is the Lower House of Parliament. Being the ‘House of People its members are directly elected by the people.
The present Lok Sabha consists of $545$ members. Of these $543$ are directly elected and $2$ members of the Anglo-Indian community are nominated by the President of India.
543 seats are distributed among the States on the basis of population. Each State is divided into single member constituencies.
There is provision for the reservation of seats for the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes in proportion to their population.
The normal tenure of the Lok Sabha is five years. It can be dissolved earlier by the President. Parliament can extend its term by one year at a time during the National Emergency.
The members of the Lok Sabha elect from among themselves the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker.
