Social mobility is a state of ups and downs.
Which takes you from one level of the system to another in layering.
Features of social mobility:
$(1)$ Universality:
Social mobility is found in every society.
Whether it is a caste based society like India or a class based social movement, it is universal.
E.g. The change in the position of women in all societies of the world.
$(2)$ Difference in quantity:
The degree of social mobility varies according to society or time.
Sometimes the same society has different levels of mobility at different times.
E.g. the current dynamics are faster than the Middle Ages.
And the rate of mobility is higher in a class system than in a caste system.
$(3)$ Procedure indicating change of status:
Social mobility results in a change in the status or position of an individual or a group.
This change is from top to bottom or from bottom to top.
