Find the equation of a straight line:with slope -2 and intersecting the x-axis at a distance of 3 units to the left of origin.

$m=-2, c=-3$ The required equation of line is $y-y_1=m\left(x-x_1\right)$ Since the line cuts the $x$-axis at $(-3,0)$ with slope -2 , we have, $y-0=-2(x+3) \Rightarrow y=-2 x-6 \Rightarrow 2 x+y+6=0$
