During a flood, Be aware of flash flood areas such as canals, streams, drainage channels. If instructed, turn off utilities at main switches and unplug appliances-do not touch electrical equipment if wet. If you must leave your home, do not walk through moving water.Prepare your home and property:
  1. Keep drains, culverts, gutters, streets and driveways clear of leaves and other debris to prevent localized flooding.
  2. Store flood-fighting supplies like plastic sheeting, lumber and sandbags.
  3. Elevate the furnace, water heater and electrical panel above flooding level.
