Question
If $\text{x}-\text{e}^{\frac{\text{x}}{\text{y}}},$ prove that $\frac{\text{dy}}{\text{dx}}=\frac{\text{x}-\text{y}}{\text{x}\log\text{x}}$

Answer

$\text{x}-\text{e}^{\frac{\text{x}}{\text{y}}}$
Taking logarithm on both sides, we get
$\log\text{x}=\frac{\text{x}}{\text{y}}$
$\Rightarrow\text{y}\log\text{x}=\text{x}$
$\Rightarrow\log\text{x}\frac{\text{dy}}{\text{dx}}+\frac{\text{y}}{\text{x}}=1$
$\Rightarrow\log\text{x}\frac{\text{dy}}{\text{dx}}=1-\frac{\text{y}}{\text{x}}$
$\Rightarrow\log\text{x}\frac{\text{dy}}{\text{dx}}=\frac{\text{x}-\text{y}}{\text{x}}$
$\Rightarrow \text{x}\log\text{x}\frac{\text{dy}}{\text{dx}}=\text{x}-\text{y}$
$\Rightarrow\frac{\text{dy}}{\text{dx}}=\frac{\text{x}-\text{y}}{\text{x}\log\text{x}}$

A hospital dietician wishes to find the cheapest combination of two foods, $A$ and $B$, that contains at least $0.5$ milligram of thiamin and at least $600$ calories. Each unit of A contains $0.12$ milligram of thiamin and $100$ calories, while each unit of $B$ contains $0.10$ milligram of thiamin and $150$ calories. If each food costs $10$ paise per unit, how many units of each should be combined at a minimum cost?
