If the volume of a gas is reduced at a constant temperature, its pressure increases. Explain from molecular kinetic theory.
✓
Answer
The volume is reduced, its pressure increases because by doing so the quantity per unit volume has increased. Due to increase in the number of molecules colliding with the walls of the vessels per second, the momentum transferred per second to the walls increases i.e. the pressure increases.
