खद्योतः means the firefly. When a firefly flies with its glowing wings, it seems that tiny dots of light are glowing. The fireflies are seen glowing on the earth the way the constellations and the stars glow in the sky. In the Kali Yuga, the effect of the Vedas gets destroyed and the effect of the deceitful people can be seen everywhere. Thus, the glowing of fireflies is compared with the effect of deceitful people and the light of planets is compared with the knowledge of the Vedas. The glowing of fireflies and the effect of the deceitful people get destroyed in short time.
