एवं व्यवहारेऽपि प्रवृत्ता वाणी सर्वान् समानरूपेण न संतोषयति। वस्तुतः सुदुर्लभा सर्वमनोरमा वाणी। सर्वेऽपि जनाः विचक्षण T: न भवन्ति। केचित् मन्दाः इति वा, केचित् अज्ञाः इति वा स्नेहपूर्णां वाणीमपि भावयितुं न पारयन्ति। एतादृशान् जनान् दृष्टवा किं व्यवहारे वाणीप्रर्याणः परित्यक्तव्यः? न हि न हि। मृगाः सन्तीति यवाः नोप्यन्ते? उप्यन्ते एव। भिक्षुकाः सन्तीति स्थाल्यो नाधिश्रियन्ते? अधिश्रियन्ते एव। अतः स्वकीयेन सुरुचिपूर्णेन व्यवहारेण जनान् आनन्दयितुं संस्कृता वाणी एव सततं प्रयोक्तव्या।
Translation :
Thus, even in the practical life when the speech is made it does not please all in the same way. In fact, the speech pleasing nobody is very rare. All the people are not wise. Some people are dull or some (others) are ignorant and so unable to appreciate even the affectionate speech.
Seeing such people should speech be completely given up in practical life? Yes, at all. Are Barley grains not to be grown because there are birds? They are grown. Are the vessels not put on the stove because there are beggars? They are surely put on the stove. So only the cultured or refined speech should always be used to please the people by our own behaviour that would reflect our higher taste.
