The four characteristics of images formed by plane mirrors are as following:
- The image formed in a plane mirror is virtual. It cannot be received on a screen.
- The image formed is erect and of same size as the object.
- The image formed is at the same distance behind the mirror as the object is in front of the mirror.
- The image formed in a plane mirror is laterally inverted.
