Southwest monsoon winds along the Malabar Coast in South India cause more rainfall during the monsoon.
At the same time, the northeast monsoon winds along the Malabar Coast in the winter are humid as they come over the Bay of Bengal.
So it rains in Malabar on the east coast of South India.
Thus, as both the monsoon and winter seasons receive rainfall, the Malabar Coast receives more rainfall.
